Develop task-based activities

In 2013, QUILL received funding from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to convert face-to-face training on developing task-related activities into webinars. These webinars were developed by Anne Ramsay and Jane Tuer of Project READ Literacy Network. They were delivered live three times between November 2013 and February 2014.  We recorded them, and you can watch the six-part series which includes the ASL translation here. Thank you for the assistance of DLI for organizing the material for the ASL translation.

It is important to watch the six sessions in order, and to watch all six of them, as each builds on the skills taught in the last. Each one includes skills that are necessary to create a successful task-based activity that follows the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework.

There are certain documents referenced in the videos. The most important is the Practitioner Guide. You may find it helpful to read through it before watching the first video. All of the other handouts are posted next to the video links below.

By June 2014, each adult learning program in Ontario should have received a hard copy of this manual. It includes the Practitioner Guide as well as the handouts for all six webinars.
